Featherweight Basic Maintenance



In this hands-on class, you’ll disassemble your Featherweight to perform basic cleaning and oiling. You’ll also learn the proper way to clean and grease the gears and motor. Together, we’ll remove the presser feet, faceplate, side plate, spool pin cover, and bottom cover so you can access and service those areas with confidence.

Materials Included: Specialty screwdriver, oiler, brushes, instruction.
Requirements: Bring your Featherweight, magnetic bowl for screws (available for purchase at the shop), sew retro grease (will share if you don't own), a penlight, screw drivers that fit machine screw heads, and a toothbrush.
Instructor: Linda Rexroth
Instructor Bio: Linda brings both skill and heart to caring for Singer Featherweights. She has completed advanced training, including a two-day Featherweight course with David Werther (2024) and a three-day class with Carmen Henry (2022). For the past four years, she has also volunteered with The Sewing Project through Mobility Worldwide, where she helps clean, oil, and repair donated machines that are shipped to Africa to establish sewing schools. Before turning her attention to sewing, Linda enjoyed a long career as an operating room nurse. At home, life is happily full with three kids, seven grandkids, a lively Aussie, and eleven chickens.
