Youth & Adult Beginner Sewing Summer Class

This hands-on class is created for youth and adult beginners who are ready to learn the basics of sewing in a relaxed and supportive environment. Participants will learn sewing machine basics and safety, fabric cutting techniques, sewing straight seams, maintaining accurate seam allowances, proper pressing methods, and problem-solving for common beginner challenges.
Students will gain hands-on practice and leave with practical experience, a dependable skill set, and the confidence to continue sewing on their own at home.
This class is open to ages 11 and up. Students ages 11–15 may bring a chaperone if desired. Chaperones are welcome to observe but are not required to register and will not participate in class activities.

| Instructor Bio: | Diane Swanson is a recent addition to the wonderful community of Columbia. She began quilting in the late '90s and has been passionate about creating all kinds of quilts ever since. With a background as an elementary school teacher, Diane loves combining her two greatest passions, teaching and sewing, to help others grow their skills and creativity. |
